Knights,

The days are getting much shorter and we approach the opening of school; I can't wait to see everyone again and I look forward to another great year.  I want to share some information about the staffing changes at the school.

FACULTY: we are excited to announce our new faculty members:

We wish all of our outgoing faculty members the best of luck in their new endeavors: Rebecca Brockman, Cathleen Gram, Gay Holub, Mary Lander, Matt Medina, Krissy Montez, Cynthia Rodriguez, and Shawn Wells.  You will be missed.

BELL SCHEDULE and LOCKERS: All student lunches will be determined by the student's 4th period class; 6th graders will have the first lunch, 7th graders will have the second lunch, and 8th graders will have the last lunch.  Students will have access to their lockers before/after school, before/after lunch, and before 7th period.

THANKS! I would like to recognize the following groups of people and thank them for their efforts to benefit the students an community of KLMS:

• The PTO and volunteers who stood in the sun during the 6th grade camp to make spirit wear and PE clothes available to parents and students.
• The volunteers who worked the 6th grade camp: we have over 45 students, parents, and teachers come to help welcome our newest knights.
• The front office staff for working diligently to welcome new families, update student records, and organize the business of the school.
• The counseling team for finessing schedules to maximize students getting their top choice of electives and core academic classes.
• The administrative team for working to prepare professional development and selecting the best teachers for our students.
• Our custodial crew who have worked tirelessly to prepare the school for students.
• The numerous teachers who have been at school preparing their rooms and lessons for students.

THINGS TO NOTE:  Kelly Lane and Hendrickson will be the site for the district professional development conference on Thursday and Friday of this week.  This means that all teachers in the district will be at these two schools during business hours to participate in training.  Please be prepared for more traffic in the morning hours; in addition, most campuses will have less staff available to assist parents and students.  If you need to visit a PISD school, I recommend calling ahead to verify the staff you need are present at the school.

The first day of school is August 25th.  

Open House is scheduled for September 4th in the evening.
