First Week

Knights,
What a fabulous first week, well two days but it felt like a week!
Thank you for trusting us with your student(s), it was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces in the hall. I am always amazed at how much the kids grow in just a few short months. I don't want to take your time, and I plan on sending this once, so here are some quick things to note:

Spirit Wear
The KLMS PTO has a spirit wear site that you can order and customize KLMS spirit wear. There is free shipping on any order through August 16th and free shipping anyime on orders over $50. You can purchase PE clothing through this option as well (grey t-shirt and navy shorts).

Parent Feedback
Coming back to school has been an adjustment for many families and teachers. Systems that seemed so familiar now seem new at times (like a passing period with 1,000 students). We would like your feedback on these last two days. I have created a google form to collect your grows and glows for KLMS - these are things done well and the things where we need to improve. If you have a moment, please click on the form and share your thoughts. There are three generic questions and then an opportunity to share grows, glows, or both.

KLMS Calendar
I have updated the KLMS calendar on the website. It has all of the events we are planning. Please double check dates/locations of sporting schedules if you are going to attend a sporting event given those may change with the availabilty of facilities and/or health & safety guidelines. Additionally, as health & safety guidelines are adjusted, we will change/delay/cancel our plans.  Please note that fall yearbook photos are October 1st.

Facilities Update
We are planning for the gym to be completed by Labor Day; until then, HHS is our home court for Volleyball.  The Band Hall renovations are complete and beautiful.  The stage lighting should hopefully be done soon and will be a great resource for our Theatre Arts department!

Bus Transportation
If your student(s) ride a bus, we apologize for the delays.  It is typical for them to run a little late the first week but this was definitely unusual!  We anticipate the runs will be closer to normal times next week.

Campus Academic Advisory Committee
If you are interested in serving as a parent representative on the Campus Academic Advisory Committee, please complete this form. The meetings will be on Zoom, starting at 6:00, on the following dates: Sept. 15, Nov. 17, Jan. 19, March 9, and May 11.  The last two meetings are slightly longer due to preparations for the 2022-23 school year.
We are looking for:
--Parent representatives (cannot be a PfISD employee)
--Business representatives (no restrictions on the location of business or residency)
--Community representatives (must live in PfISD boundary but cannot be a KLMS parent or PfISD employee).

Have a great weekend!
