We hope you had a great break and are ready to start the spring semester!
We start this semester with transition events for our 8th graders headed to high school and the 5th graders coming to KLMS.
8th grade transition information
The link above will take you to the KLMS website where we will update information and presentations with the various activities associated with transitioning from KLMS to HHS.
Next week has the first three major events for transitioning to HHS:
- Monday, January 13th we will have a parent meeting at KLMS (starting at 6:00pm in the cafeteria) to review high school graduation plans and endorsements/pathways. This is an optional meeting and will be most beneficial for parents that are new to planning for high school graduation (new to Texas or first time high school parents).
- Wednesday, January 15th there are two events. During the school day, all of the 8th grade students will visit HHS for the majority of the school day; the students will start and end their day at KLMS. In the evening, HHS will host a course fair for parents and students to tour HHS and get more information about the elective options.
5th grade transition information

There are two major events for incoming 6th grade students and parents in January.
- Wednesday, January 22nd 5th grade students from our feeder elementary schools will come to KLMS from 9:30-11:30 for a tour of the school and information about course selections.
- Monday, January 27th will be a parent meeting starting at 6:30pm in the KLMS cafeteria. This meeting will explain course selection for parents and will be most beneficial for parents new to KLMS. All parents are welcome to attend as there will be an opportunity to tour the school and meet elective teachers.
There will be a PTO meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7th from 6:30-7:30pm in the library. If you are interested in serving on the PTO for next year, this would be a great meeting to attend to understand the committment and processes at KLMS.
There is a student and staff holiday on Monday, January 20th.
If your student is interested in auditioning for the KLMS Musical, auditions will be the week of January 21st. All students are eligible to audition, even if they are not currently enrolled in the Theatre class. Audition information will be available at an optional parent meeting on January 14th (6:00pm) and during Theatre classes. The parent meeting will be most beneficial if your student in not currently enrolled in Theatre.
