I want to call two changes in the calendar to your attention.
First, the Fall Kickstart Belt Ceremony has been changes from Tuesday, December 17th to Monday, December 16th.
We are holding a parent seminar on Thursday, December 12th starting at 6:30; this event was previously not scheduled. Based on the parent feedback from the last blog, we will have prsentations on Skyward, Social Media & Bullying in Middle School, and Vaping/Drugs/Alcohol. We will print a schedule and format of events so you can attend what you are interested in attending without having to attend one single presentation.
Next, I want to clarify the expectations for after school events (sporting events, dances, and tutoring) and ask for your help. Students are expected to leave the building by 3:45 unless they are with a teacher for tutorials or practice/rehearsal, we do not have teachers at duty stations to supervise students. When students stay, they must remain with that teacher until it is time to go home, at that point students should plan on exiting the building. If students are wanting to attend an afterschool event that does not start immediately after school, they should leave campus and then return for the event. Waiting on campus leaves students unsupervised for almost 2 hours before the game.
These expectations are being reinforced with students at school and we could use your help to remind them at home.
- Students should stay in the appropriate area for the event and not wander around or off campus. For example, students watching a game should remain in the bleachers to watch the game (not wander or leave campus). If students leave the event, they will not be allowed to return to the game and should go home.
- Students should be actively engaged for the activity they are attending. For example, students in tutorials should be actively working on assignments/working with the teacher. If students are not actively engaged (such as playing on their phone or not working), they will be asked to leave and go home.
- While dress code and eletronic policies are not strictly enforced at evening games, the expectations for behavior and appropriate language remain. Students should use public appropriate language, remain engaged, and not engage in horseplay.
I hope everyone is looking forward to a week vacaction in just a few days!
We will see you tomorrow!
