Knights,
I want to share three different performance reports with you regarding our performance on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) for the 2018-2019 school year. There are state and federal reports because we have two accountability systems. A copy of these reports will be in the front office and we can get a paper copy for you upon request.
. The purpose of this report card is to provide parents with a succinct overview of the school performance. This report translates the STAAR passing rates into letter grades; KLMS earned a B rating last year with an overall grade of 89. This report shows the domains of accountability, school and student demographic information, and the STAAR test outcomes for all grades/all subjects by the different levels of achievement (Approaches Grade Level, Meets Grade Level, and Masters Grade Level) by ethnicity and economic status.
. This report provides a detailed view of testing results by ethnicity, students with/without disabilities, gender, and other reporting categories. The reports are by grade and by subject for each level of achievement as well as for all grades/subjects combined by achievement level. This report also includes students growth scores, performance against specific target scores, participation rates, breakdown of students with disabilities (including discipline), STAAR ALT2 participation, and the percentages of students at the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) achievement levels for reading and math.
. This is commonly called the TAPR report (pronounced "taper"). This report show student performance for each grade and each subject in 13 different groups (including ethnicity). It shows within each grade, subject, and group if students performed at the approaches, meets, or masters level of achievement. It provides the same information by subject with all grades combined, as well as the growth scores for reading math in the 13 groups. It provides more specific information about SSI (Student Success Initiative which is the 5th and 8th grade required passing years) and students who are English language learners. The report contains campus attendance, graduation, & dropout rates, the campus graduation profile, and college, career, & military readiness scores (NOTE: for many of these items there is only district and State information as many of these data points do not apply to middle schools). Lastly there is campus student and staff demographic information.
I will be publicly presenting the TAPR report at the next PTO meeting on Monday, March 2nd.
Please let us know if you would like a paper copy of these reports; there is a printed copy available in the front office at KLMS. You can find these reports online by going to the KLMS website and navigate to the "KLMS Performance Indicators" page under the "About Us" tab.
Thank you for your continued support of the school and students!
Dina Schaefer, KLMS Principal
