Knights,
This is an exciting time of the year as we are coming to close with some activities, going strong with activites still to happen in the school year, and setting up for next year!
I am so proud of our students who have competed academically and athletically in the past month! We finished basketball strong - with several teams winning the final tournament. Our students at the science fair placed exceptionally well and several KLMS student won their events at the UIL tournament earlier this month.
Track and field has started, but unfortunately we had to cancel the first meet. It looks like the weather will cooperate this week so the next (and now first) track meet will be this Wednesday, hosted by KLMS at HHS. You can find information about the track schedules, meets, and hints on what to bring for a track meet on the Athletics homepage.
We have a unique KLMS event this upcoming week - on Friday we will have the Pet Art Show, starting a 6:00pm. Our students have recreated pictures of pets that are currently in local animal shelters, the work was framed and will be for sale that evening. All proceeds from the sale of the art work will be donated to the local animal shelters.
If you are preparing for the STAAR testing, they are listed on the KLMS website calendar. Our first set of tests is April 7 and 8 with the 8th grade reading and math tests, along with the 7th grade writing test. The second tests will be May 12-15 for the 6th grade reading and math, 7th grade reading and math, and 8th grade science and social studies.
But before we get to the testing, we still have track/field, golf, and soccer to celebrate, our musical "Footloose", band and choir UIL contests and performances, and many more things!
Have a great weekend!
