March News

Knights,

The Big Event is almost here!  We are thrilled that over 400 students will be participating in this community-wide service project!  While 400 is a lot of students, there are 800 that will still be on campus.  I know a big question is what students here will be doing... it will be business as usual on campus with a slight change to lunches.

For those with a teacher participating at a Big Event job site, the students will either join another class or another teacher will cover the class in the normal classroom location. A displacement schedule has been shared with teachers, who will in turn share it with students who will be impacted.  A copy of the schedule will also be posted by the cafeteria.  For lunch, we will have 3 lunches (one for each grade) and advisory will be outside.  The bell schedule will remain the same and attendance will be taken in all classes; this is an official day of attendance that will be used when determining campus distinctions.

Spring is here... please take a moment to review the dress code expectations.  Dress code is a fine balancing act- we don't want students missing class but there is an expectation that they follow the rules adopted by the Board of Trustees.  It can also be an inconvenience for parents if you have to bring a change of clothing.

Spring Break is coming soon!  Please note that the Monday after break, March 20th, we have our first Pet Art Show and Adoption event.  This event will be on the south lawn (by the cafeteria); there will be student art for sale, pets for adoption, speakers, and food trucks.  Please come out and show your support for our furry friends!

March 28 and 29 will be the first two days of STAAR testing.  Please note that we will be a closed campus to all visitors those two days regardless of whether your student is testing or not.

Have a great week!  Good luck to the students preparing for the track meet, band UIL contest, and cheer leading tryouts; we also want to congratulate the recent inductees for National Junior Honor Society.

Keep up the good work Knights!
