Welcome April!

Knights,

Thank you for all of your support this week, STAAR testing is exhausting for everyone involved (including parents) but they can be especially stressful on students.  This is a well deserved weekend!

Good luck to all of our student athletes that will be competing in the regional kickstart tournamnet Saturday (April 1) and in district track meet on Monday and Tuesday evening (April 3rd and 4th)!  We hope they get plenty of rest and ready to perform their personal best for the meet.

The National Junior Honor Society is collecting new PJs for kids in local area hospitals.  If you want to donate, bring PJs to room 206 or room 321 before April 10th.

Girls Soccer tryouts are next week on April 5th and 6th.  See the flyers at school or Coach Varela for more information.  The first soccer game of the season will be against Cele MS (at Hendrickson HS) on April 12th.

April 7th is our last pep rally of the year.  We are excited to introduce our new cheerleaders and have a sneak preview of the musical, Hairspray Jr!

Hairspray Jr, the musical, will be April 20th, 21st, and 22nd at 8:00 pm in the KLMS cafeteria.  There will be a matinee showing on April 22nd at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students; doors will open 30 minutes prior to showtime.

Here are some events coming up in May:
May 22nd is the Spring Choir Concert in the KLMS cafeteria.
May 23rd is the Beginner Band Concert in the KLMS gym; the 7th and 8th Grade Band Concert will be May 25th in the gym.
May 24th is the KickStart Spring Belt Ceremony.
May 26th is the reward day for all eligible students.
May 30th is a student and staff holiday.
May 31st is the last day of school, ending at 12:45.  We will have our end of year award ceremonies on this day.

Upcoming events for the 8th grade students:
April 5th is the panoramic picture; we will take the picture during 1st period and Goldbeck will be here April 6th for students to purchase the picture (historically it has been $25).

April 28th is the 8th grade semi-formal dance from 6:00-9:00 pm.  The theme this year is Masquerade Ball, if you are interested in volunteering, please click here to sign up.  We are still in need of parents to help us serve dinner- it's a great way to see all the kids but not be here all night!

May 26th is the 8th grade field trip to Schlitterbahn.

Upcoming STAAR/AP tests:
May 3rd is the Algebra EOC (End of Course) exam.
May 8th is 6th and 7th grade math.
May 9th is 6th and 7th grade reading and the AP Spanish exam.
May 10th is 8th grade science (and make-up testing for absent students).
