With the beginning of February at our nose... we have a number of things I want to share.
First and foremost- please welcome Nolbert Reyna to our KLMS team! Mr. Reyna will be taking over as the 7th grade Assistant Principal, starting Monday, January 30th (today). Mr. Reyna comes to us from Cele Middle School; he has a background in school counseling and teaching Spanish.
Tuesday, January 31st is the parent orientation at KLMS for incoming 6th grade students (current 5th grade students). The general session will start at 6:10 pm in the KLMS cafeteria; please arrive at 6:00 so we will be ready to start at 6:10 pm. We will discuss course selection and parents will have an option to hear more about elective options. The students visited campus last week and had an introduction to our electives.
The is a mandatory parent meeting for any current 8th grade student wanting to tryout for Hendrickson High School Cheerleading. The meeting is Wednesday, February 1st at 6:30 pm in the HHS library. There is additional information on the HHS website.
Wednesday, February 1st is an early release day. Students will be released at 12:45, lunch will be provided in the cafeteria (lunches for purchase will be sack lunches). During instructional time, students will be taking math and reading assessments (some will be mock STAAR tests, others will be diagnostic skills testing). It is important that students attend school; by using the early release day we are able to preserve instructional days. Students absent from the early release will be expected to make up the missed assessments upon their return. Due to the mock testing, Knight Lab will be cancelled and will resume normal operation on Thursday.
Current 6th and 7th grade students will be getting their choice sheets this week. Current 8th grade students will be entering course selections next week- parents will be notified of the individual time and place for those meetings.
Valentine's Dance is Friday, February 10th, tickets will go on sale during lunches Wed-Fri before the dance. The 6th grade is from 6:00-7:30; 7th & 8th grade are from 7:30-9:00. Tickets will be sold at the door as well.
