I hope everyone is ready for a fun and relaxing Spring Break. The students and the teachers have been working hard these last couple of weeks and I know the break will be welcomed!
I have just a few notes to share before the break:
- The warm weather is a welcome change from the cold rain we've had lately. As your student is preparing their spring wardrobe, please make sure their clothing is appropriate for school. A list of district guidelines can be found here. The biggest cause of dress code violations is short skirts/shorts, low cut shirts, shirts that expose bellies, and exposed/visible undergarments. The goal of a dress code is to support a focused learning environment; we strive to balance the student's desire for individuality with the need to support all learning environment as a whole.
- The warmer weather also means there are more students walking to and from school. Please encourage students that walk to use crosswalks and not to enter the street from between parked cars.
- The nine weeks will end on March 24th. Students have had homeroom time all week to work on missing assignments. If you are not connected with TxConnect to monitor your student's grades, please come to the front office. You will need your drivers license but you will be able to gain access to your student's grades to assist them in maintaining a dedication to academics.
- The first bit of STAAR testing is March 30th and 31st. The STAAR Writing test for 7th graders is administered over both days and the STAAR Reading for 8th graders is administered on March 31st. Please avoid any preventable absences during this time; students are generally released from testing around 1:00 to return to their regular classes. You can find out more about STAAR here.
- June 3rd is the designated day for our bad weather make-up; therefore, June 3rd will be the last day of school.
