Two Tasks

 Knights,

As we prepare to get back into our routines of school, please know that 1) we know not everyone is there and we will support you and your family, and 2) even if you have all necessities (food, water, heat) we know the healing process has just begun.  We know that it will take time to process what just happened and time to feel secure in your world.  I am there too- last night I thought we lost power again and as I started to panic and devise a survival plan, I realized my husband had just turned off the lights.

There are two tasks that I need your help with that both have deadlines (one for you and one for your student).  The parent task is faster than the student task, just FYI.  If you need assistance completing either these, call us and we can help.

Parents: Please complete the declaration of your method of instruction (online or on-campus), please complete this even if you are not requesting a change.  Google Form Link click here.  The form will ask for your email address, your student's ID/grade/name, and your selection of on-campus or online.  You will receive a confirmation email, keep that email and you can make changes up until March 4th.

Students: In the past, the students have completed a survey specific to their teachers called Panorama.  Given the rollercoaster year we are having, we are using the same company for an SEL survey (Social-Emotional-Learning).  The survey will help us identify the needs of our students so we can support them; the great thing about this survey is the data functions as their voice - so we are responding to what they are saying in addition to what we are observing.

To complete the survey: Your child logs into Canvas, they will see an announcement on their dashboard about the Panorama SEL Survey. Please have your child click on the link and take the survey. The access ID is your child's "s" number without using the letter "s".

When your child has completed the survey, have your child go back to the dash board and click the "x" on the announcement to dismiss it.

I wish all you have at least one peaceful night this week, where you can take a deep breath and feel confident that you've got this.  You've done a great job, feel proud.  There is no playbook for navigating a snowpocalypse during a pandemic, there is no "right" way to do this.

Stay safe and healthy,

Dina Schaefer, KLMS Principal
