We hope you had a relaxing break and are ready for the spring semester. This semester always seems to go much faster and before you know it, we are talking about summer plans. Here are some things to be aware of that are coming up quickly.
On January 8th, when students return to classes, the schedule will run like a regular school day (not like the first day of school). If students received a schedule change, those have been handled individually as the majority of students have no change in their schedule or routine.
Course Selections & Transitions
Believe it or not, we will be begin the process of choosing courses for next year this month. We will start building our 2019-2020 schedule by Spring Break - so please watch out for these choice sheets. All choice sheets will be due by February 15th.
8th grade parents - please read about these specific transition events reminders
**January 8 - we will have a parent meeting starting at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria (after the 6:00 pm PTO meeting). This meeting will be primarily to explain high school graduation plans and pathways/endorsements. If you are new to high school planning, we strongly recommend you join us.
**January 16: Course fair at HHS. We will provide more information as it is available.
**February 13-15: you will have a 15-minute meeting to accept your student's 4 year plan and courses for next year. You will receive an assigned time and there will not be much opportunity to ask questions; if you are unsure of this process, we strongly recommend you join us on January 8th for the parent meeting.

5th grade parents - for students who will enter KLMS next fall as 6th graders
**January 23 - the 5th grade students will come to KLMS for an orientation. This occurs during the school day.
**January 28 - we will have a parent meeting at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. This meeting will help guide you on understanding the difference between advanced and on-level courses, as well as general expectations at KLMS.

Lunches
Parents are welcome to join their student for lunch by signing up ahead of time. This ensures that there is a table available for parents. Please note that if a date is missing, it is a day we cannot accommodate having parents on campus, such as STAAR testing days. Spring semester sign ups are now active and can be located by clicking on this link.

Basketball is in full swing, please come out and support our Knights. The exact dates and opponents can be located on the KLMS website. Additionally, the have track, soccer and golf games on the calendar.
