It seems that fall weather is just around the corner, I for one am very excited about the cooler temperatures! Did you see the KLMS band featured on the PfISD homepage? If not, click here. The students have been doing a great job at school, thank you to all of the students and parents that are making academics a priority. I have just a few announcements, reminders, and requests:
- Catapult Enrichment Classes - The new set of classes are ready for students to sign up- from the KLMS homepage, go to "staff" and then the lesson plans for your child's grade. There will be a link for Catapult on the left side of the screen. Students may register for all four classes at one time (only one per week). If you use a parent account, please "display alternate name" with your student's name; this helps to ensure accuracy of our rosters.
- After-School Arrangements - We are pleased to see so many students participate in extra-curricular activities. Please make arrangements to have your student picked up at the conclusion of their activity. It is our expectations that students not participating in extra-curricular or meeting with a specific teacher should not be on campus.
- Parent Pick-Up and Drop-Off - As many of you are aware, the traffic around KLMS can be quite difficult at times. Please utilize the drop off lane in the back of the school, this is the safest option for dropping off or picking up students.
- UIL Eligibility - I have had some questions about UIL eligibility. These guidelines are set by UIL and are not at the discretion of PfISD to change; a copy of the UIL Side-by-Side rules can be found here, it is the resource that I use to answer UIL questions. Eligibility is determined at the end of the grading period, students with failing grades are ineligible to play but are allowed to practice or rehearse. Students become ineligible at 3:35 seven days after the end of the grading period. Students have the opportunity to regain eligibility at the nine week reporting time by passing every class; students regain eligibility at 3:35 seven days after the end of the grading period. Essentially, students are ineligible for three school weeks, but those weeks are offset one week from the grading period (UIL calls it a grace period and a waiting period).
- Mandatory Study Hall - students have the opportunity once a week to participate in a club of their choosing. Students with missing work may be assigned to mandatory study hall in lieu of attending their club. Please encourage your student to turn in work when it is due so they may continue to participate in their club.
- High School Football Student Conduct- If you have attend a high school football game, you know that the stadium fills quickly. This reminder comes from the athletic office: All middle school students must have an ID or a class schedule to attend a high school football game on Friday night. They are required to sit during the game and will not be allowed to congregate in the open areas of the stadium. If a school district official, police or stadium personnel ask the student to move from the areas mentioned and student does not comply, the student will be asked to leave the stadium. Students may receive additional KLMS consequences depending on the nature and severity of the infraction.
- High School Football Tickets - (from the athletic office) Every Monday morning, the Athletic Administrative Assistants at our High Schools start selling tickets for our Thursday and/or Friday night varsity football games whether played at home or way. They sell Monday – Wednesday in their office in the Field House and on Thursday mornings in their office until the lunch periods. During each high school’s lunch period, they sell tickets in the cafeteria. After the last lunch period on Thursday, the tickets sales for pre-game ticket prices are over. Tickets will have to be purchased at the game at full price. Our HS Athletic Administrative Assistants work part time so you may want to give them a call for their hours so that you don’t go over to purchase tickets and find she isn’t there.Pflugerville HS – Karina Boice – 512-594-0546Connally HS – Joy Pinson - 512-594-0846Hendrickson HS – Roshell Reyes – 512-594-1146Pflugerville and Hendrickson HS football ticket prices are:Pre-game Adult - $7 / Pre-game Student - $3 / At the game - $9 for everyone Kindergarten through Adult
