Knights,
We
have two events to help raise funds for KLMS.
Why? When we spend money on non-instructional things – such as student
awards or reward activities, field trips, the Knight Out EOY celebration,
teacher hospitality (including or end of year luncheon), teacher awards, staff
shirts, and/or unique professional learning opportunities for staff, that money
comes from the principal account. That
account is 100% funded with donations or fundraisers – it is not part of the
operational budget and therefore not refunded yearly.
During
the month of April, we have a school-wide fundraising program called the
PAINLESS FUNDRAISER. You may be familiar with a painless fundraiser; it is essentially
a donation-based fundraiser that does not require students/families to sell
goods or services. The advantage for the
school is that the PAINLESS FUNDRAISER gives 100% of the money raised
directly to Kelly Lane MS.
- To participate electronically, you visit
the KLMS Online Store to make
an donation (https://pflugervilleisd.revtrak.net/ms/kelly-lane-middle-school/donations/#/v/klms-donations1. If you would prefer to send cash or
check, please send it to the front office.
- The first 75 donations of $100 or
more will receive a “Proud Sponsor of KLMS” yard sign to display at their
home. If you are donating $100 or
more, please enter the address where you would like me to place the sign
in the comment box.
- These donations will provide immediate
relief to help fund the end of year events.
- These donations are tax-deductible.
- This link can be forwarded to friends and families.
The
first week of May is teacher appreciation week.
We will sponsor a “Nothing Bundt Cake” fundraiser and contest to benefit
the teachers and students.
- To participate, parents will purchase
a mini-Bundt cake (or more) for $6 by going to the KLMS online store (link
is not active at this time, I will send the link when available). In the comment box, note the grade that
you sponsoring.
- At the end of the purchasing window
– we will determine which grade purchased the most cakes and that grade will
receive a grade-wide prize (extra recess time and/or a prize during Knight
Out).
- The purchased cakes will be divided
across the staff/teachers assigned to that team and delivered as part of
the Teacher Appreciation Week gifts.
- The school will receive $2 per cake
purchased as a fundraiser.
In
the past, I have funded the principal account with a percentage of the profits
from school pictures, the “cash back” award from PEF based on employee
donations, and funds received from employer or commercial give back programs (ex:
Target red card or the Dell Employee Matching process). These are not significant fundraisers but they
have allowed us to maintain modest awards and activities. We have not had a school-wide fundraiser since
I have been at KLMS because many students are part of a club/organization with
a mandatory fundraiser and I haven’t wanted to place any extra burden on students
or families. We have a generous PTO that
has often helped fill the gap or purchase things for teachers/students that we
cannot cover with the principal fund.
Please
help us make this a successful fundraising event. We are hoping that this
simple process increases participation and more funds will go directly back to
our school. Please help us accomplish this!
Thank you for your partnership in our
fundraising efforts!
