STAAR and STAR

Knights,

You will be getting information from your students soon about their STAR 360 results, and some students have STAAR results.

STAR 360- this is a universal screener (assessment) all students have taken at least twice this school year.  This is taken at school, during Catapult, three total times a year.

STAAR- this is the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness refers to the State test administered once per year for Reading, Math, Writing, Social Studies, and Science.  So far, The Reading 8, Math 8, and Writing 7 STAAR tests have been administered.

Your students STAR 360 score report will be coming home with a letter to explain how to read the report.  This report is not intended to be diagnostic with the information reported.

If your student is enrolled in PAP Math 7, Intro to Algebra, or ELA 8 they have a STAAR score for their test.  The results for the Writing test have not been released.  To access information about your student's STAAR test, use the following steps:

  1. Log in FOCUS and select the student for whom you want to review test results.
  2. Click on "My Child" along the top bar, and select "Child Info" from the drop down list.
  3. Along the left side, there are a list of options to view.  Select "Texas Assessment Data Portal" at the bottom.
  4. Copy or write down the unique access code, you will need this in step 6.
  5. Click on "Texas Assessment Data Portal".  This takes you to a new website.
  6. Enter the unique access code you copied in step 4.  Then enter your student's birthday and select "go".
  7. You will then see their entire testing history with STAAR.  You can click on any test name to see their score, a comparison of their score and to their peers in the school/campus/State, and you can review their answers (see test details).
