Celebrations and Upcoming Events

Knights,Can you believe we are only weeks away from Spring Break?  The year has gone by so quickly, so many great things have been accomplished!

*I would like to recognize and congratulation our end of the year teacher awards.
2015-16 Teacher of the Year Lisa Samuels
2015-16 Humanitarian of the Year Sherri Vigil
2015-16 Staff Member of the Year Jason Soileau
2015-16 Rookie Teacher of the Year Jordan James

Each of these staff members were nominated and elected by their peers.  It's such a great honor and the competition was difficult!

*Congratulations to our student, Yousor, for her 3rd place finish at the Austin Regional Science Festival and we wish her well at the state competition!

*KLMS won the attendance trophy for having the best attendance rate among the PfISD middle schools for the month of January.  You can see our trophy in the main office, I hope we are able to maintain our attendance rate and win again!

*KLMS will have the most number of middle school students participating in The Big Event with HHS on March 11th; an astounding 677 students registered to help our community!

*Our 8th grade students participated in the PSAT 8/9 test in October.  Our students had a total mean score of 855; they exceeded the state mean score of 799 and the national mean score of 801!  KLMS also had a higher percent of students meet the college and career readiness benchmark in both reading and math; 59% of KLMS students met both benchmarks whereas  43% of students at the state level and 41% of students at the national level meet the benchmark for both subjects.

*Invitations for National Junior Honor Society were distributed Thursday to eligible 7th and 8th grade students.  Congratulations to the students who qualified for an invitation; all packets are due back by March 8th.

*The KLMS yearbook was selected for a second time as a national example yearbook.  Congratulations to our hard working and creative students, as well as their director Maisey Edwards.  Don't forget to order your yearbook soon; the prices go up after Spring Break!
